The Challenger 1, as the main fighting tank from 1983 to 2001, significantly shaped British military history. He received his baptism of fire in the Gulf War in 1991, where he was characterized by exceptional accuracy. The continuous modernization, especially the additional armor of the Mk. 3 version, made it one of the best protected tanks of its time. The massive 1,200 hp motor gave the 62-ton colossus a considerable speed of 56 km/h.
