The Deutsche Afrika Korps vehicles were painted with four RAL colors: 8000 and 7008 until March of 1942; 8020 and 7008 after March of 1942. Additionally, the base color, Panzer Grey 7021, was exposed when the camo colors were chipped and worn. Finally there is a discussion about the color of the Tiger I deployed in Tunisia; some sources identified the Tigers as being painted Olive Drab. However, recent research identifies the paint as RAL 8020, but in a more greenish shade than usual. The Afrika Korps set contains six historically accurate colors ready to apply. Additionally, these colors are subtly adjusted allowing for the scale reduction factor. Afrika Korps is sure to satisfy the most discerning eye of modellers demanding historically correct colors.
Specially formulated for both brush and airbrush, AKI acrylic paints are water soluble and free of odors commonly found in aggressive solvent based paints.
AKI's AFV series paints are not only historically accurate and specially formulated with top quality components to exacting standards but take into account the effect of scale reduction. Ready to use straight from the bottle; simply shake, and the paint is ready to go. Dilution is not necessary when airbrushing AKI paints; however, when painting camouflage or fine lines, add a few drops of AKI's specially formulated thinner AKI712.
Useful with all acrylic paints, AKI712 improves the performance of the paint and is vastly superior to most other available thinners.
