FEATURES
The Takanami class destroyer is the newest class of Japanese ASW destroyer, serving with the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF). It is an evolution of the Murasame-class destroye, the hull and offensive ability are reinforced. The main battery with 127mm gun is the same type as that of the kongo class. In front of the bridge VLS for short-SAM(Sea-sparrow) and Asroc-SUM was mounted on the higher place from the deck. Instead of Murasame's VLS for Mk-48, SSM-1B missiles were equipped on the center of the hull, and the room for helicopter crew under the missilesuly 2001. She is launched on 26 July 2001,and commissioned on 12 March 2003.
