Free Shipping Program

For a limited time only, Great Hobbies is offering free shipping on all non-oversize parcels containing $99 or more in product via Canada Post Expedited Ground to wherever this service is available in Canada.

  • Parcels will be shipped via Canada Post Expedited Ground Service.
  • Non-oversize Parcels containing $99 or more in product will have the basic shipping charge waived.
  • A parcel is considered oversize if it exceeds 48,000 cubic centimeters of volume.
  • If the parcel is oversize we will pay the basic shipping rate for a parcel up to 48,000 cubic centimeters and the customer will be charged for the difference between 48,000 cubic centimeters and the actual volume of the parcel.
  • If the parcel is longer than 1 meter in length, an over length fee of $10.00 will be charged.
  • All parcels must carry insurance and will be charged at a rate of $1.85 per $100 in value of the parcel contents.

Please Note:

  • Value of the product is the total invoice price of the product contained in the parcel and does not include applicable taxes.
  • Expedited ground is not available
    • to some remote destinations
    • for dangerous goods
    • for huge parcels exceeding 300cm length plus girth.
  • We will contact you with rates if your parcel exceeds Expedited Ground specifications and does not qualify for our Free Shipping Program. If you are a remote destination, see Expedited Air below.
  • This offer is available only in Canada.

Shipping Methods for Orders within Canada

Orders are shipped from our central shipping warehouse in Mississauga, and we generally ship orders by Canada Post. This allows us to ship to every address in the country, whereas most other couriers cannot. Also, Great Hobbies has a very good rate with Canada Post.

If shipping method is not specified we will usually ship by Canada Post Expedited Mail, insured, which is the most economical means. If you need an item more quickly, chose either Canada Post Express Post or Canada Post Priority Courier.

Canada Post Expedited

Expedited is the most economical way to have your order shipped and is usually delivered within 4 or 7 business days to most centers within Canada.

When the value of goods you order is under $30.00 and will fit in a letter envelope (380x270x20mm, weighing less than 500g) we will ship it as such, and charged a flat rate of $3.50. Orders over $30.00 require insurance and must have tracking numbers, and are shipped as a parcel.

Canada Post Express Post

The Express Post service standard is usually 2 business day delivery to all major centers within Canada. Outlying areas may be slightly longer.

Canada Post Priority Courier

Priority Courier is usually next business day delivery to all major centers within Canada. Outlying areas may be slightly longer.

Shipping charges depend on the weight and size of the package being sent and the service chosen. Final shipping charges are calculated after your order has been packaged and weighed. We can only estimate shipping charges at the time your order is placed.

Additional charges that could apply:

Over length — A $10.00 Canada Post oversize fee will apply if package is over 1.0 meter (39") in length. This will include many R/C aircraft kits or Almost-Ready-to-Fly models.

Oversize — If a parcel is over 48,000 cubic centimeters in volume it is considered oversize. For any package over this volume, a charge equal to the difference between the cost of shipping the actual package and the cost of shipping a package of 48,000 cubic centimeters will be applied.

Insurance — All shipments must be insured. An insurance charge of $1.85 per hundred dollars, or part thereof, of order value will be applied to all orders shipped by Canada Post services.

Dangerous Goods — Fuel and other dangerous goods such as rocket engines, Li-Po batteries, and spray cans can only be shipped by courier and special charges apply. Please call for details.

Shipping Methods Other Than Canada Post

We can, under some circumstances, ship by other means. Please contact us if you have another method by which you wish to have your order shipped. Additional charges may apply and small delays may be encountered due a departure from normal product flow. Insurance charges and other fees will be dictated by the method chosen.

COD Orders

Great Hobbies no longer ships parcels COD. All orders must be prepaid. Please refer to Payment options.

US Shipping Methods

For US orders, Great Hobbies provides shipment by Surface Mail and Xpresspost USA. We recommend Xpresspost for the best shipping value. There may be limits on package size for US orders.

Surface Mail

Surface Mail is the cheapest method for shipping to the USA, however, delivery time will usually range between 2 and 4 weeks.

Great Value! — Xpresspost USA

Xpresspost delivery time is usually between 4 and 7 business days. Rates start at about $22.00 for small packages.

Additional charges that could apply:

Insurance — All shipments must be insured. An insurance charge of $2.00 per hundred dollars of order value will be applied to all orders.

Duty, Taxes and Brokerage — Upon entrance into the US, your order may assessed by US Customs and applicable duties, brokerage and taxes may be charged. Great Hobbies has no way of knowing these fees in advance. You are responsible to contact your US Customs for more information.

Dangerous Goods

We do not ship fuel and other dangerous goods such as rocket engines, Li-Po batteries, and spray cans outside of Canada.

International Orders
We currently do not ship orders outside of North America.



Store Pick-Up Option

Orders can be picked up at any of our stores during normal business hours. Business hours and stock availability will be based on the location of pickup. If you are picking your order up in a store, payment will be taken at the time of pick up by any of our accepted methods.

Warehouse Order Pickup

Great Hobbies now offers you the ability to pick up orders at our Mississauga warehouse. There are some guidelines however, and these are as follows:

  • Orders must be placed either by phone, on line or at the Mississauga store prior to pickup
  • Payment for pickup orders cannot be taken at the warehouse. Payment must be accepted and confirmed at either the Mississauga store or via the phone or website before your order will be processed for pickup. Payments by PayPal or Electronic Money Transfer are acceptable but must be confirmed as received by headquarters before the order is released and this may take extra time.
  • Orders may be picked up at the warehouse only Monday through Friday, during the hours of 9:00am-4:00pm
  • Access to the warehouse will be limited to the front pickup window only
  • There is no browsing or shopping at the warehouse facility.
  • Orders cannot be created or modified at the warehouse facility

Procedure for Ordering On Line for Warehouse Pickup

  • Create your on-line order as you would any normal order
  • Choose the "pickup at warehouse" option
  • If you are paying by credit card, your order will be picked, invoiced, payment will be taken, and you will be notified that your order is ready for pickup. You will be given an invoice number when you are notified. Note it as you will need it at time of pickup.
  • If you are paying by PayPal or EMT, nothing will be done until payment is received. Please execute payment after placing your order. Once payment is received your order will be picked, invoiced, and you will be notified that your order is ready for pickup. You will be given an invoice number when you are notified. Note it as you will need it at time of pickup.
  • If we find that not all items are available, we will let you know so that you can either modify or cancel your order. Any prepayment may either remain as a credit or be refunded by the same method it was received—customer's choice.

Procedure for Ordering by Phone

  • Call our 1-800-839-3262 customer service line to order as you would any normal order
  • Indicate to the customer service representative that you want the "pickup at warehouse" option
  • If you are paying by credit card, your order will be picked, invoiced, payment will be taken, and you will be notified that your order is ready for pickup. You will be given an invoice number when you are notified. Note it as you will need it at time of pickup.
  • If you are paying by PayPal or EMT, nothing will be done until payment is received. Once payment is received your order will be picked, invoiced, and you will be notified that your order is ready for pickup. You will be given an invoice number when you are notified. Procedure for Ordering at the Store

If you happened to be visiting our Mississauga store and there is something specific that you want that is not currently in stock at the store but is available at the warehouse, you have the option of placing an order for that item at the store and picking it up at the warehouse. Please note that this service is only available during the hours indicated. You can place your order at the store any time it’s open, but you can only pick up your order Monday through Friday, 9:00am — 4:00pm, and only after you have been notified that the order is ready.

  • Tell the staff associate at the store that you wish to order for pickup at the warehouse
  • The staff associate will enter the order into our system
  • You will be required to provide your full contact information at that time.
  • You will be required to pay for your order in full using any of our regular store payment methods: Visa, MasterCard, Debit Card, or Cash

Required When Picking Up an Order

  • Government issued photo identification to confirm who you are. The name on the ID must match the name on the order and the photo must match the person picking up the order!
  • Credit Card used in paying for order (if applicable). This will be viewed for verification and must match the name on the government issued photo ID. If the order was placed by phone or on line and paid for by credit card and the card is not presented at the time of pickup, the order will not be released.
  • Provide your invoice number given to you at the time you were notified that the order was ready.
  • Customer will be required to sign for the product at time of pickup.
