Shipping Charges
Rather than charging flat rates for shipping, Great Hobbies rates are based on actual Canada Post shipping costs for each parcel and destination. Our site cannot determine the weight and dimensions of each package, but you can get an estimate yourself at the following link.
http://www.canadapost.ca/personal/tools/rc/res/bin/rc_res-e.asp
Just fill out the required information and, provided you enter a reasonable estimate of the weight and dimensions of your parcel, the rate should be fairly accurate. C1B 2A8 is the originator's postal code for parcels shipped from the PEI location, or T6E 6W2 for parcels shipped from the Edmonton location. Obviously this is just an estimate and if you want a shipping quote, please call 1-800-839-3262 or make that request in the comments field of your web order checkout.
Shipping Methods for Orders Within Canada
Orders are shipped from both Great Hobbies locations, and we generally ship orders by Canada Post. This allows us to ship to every address in the country, whereas most other couriers cannot. Also, Great Hobbies has a very good rate with Canada Post. We can, under some circumstances, ship by other means. Please contact us if you have another method by which you wish to have your order shipped. Additional charges may apply and small delays may be encountered due a departure from normal product flow.
If shipping method is not specified we will usually ship by Expedited Mail, insured, which is the most economical means. If you need an item more quickly, chose either Express Post or Priority Courier.
Expedited Mail
Expedited Mail is the most economical way to have your order shipped and is usually delivered within 4 or 7 business days to most centers within Canada.
Express Post
Express Post is usually 2 business day delivery to all major centers in Canada. Outlying areas maybe slightly longer.
Priority Courier
Priority Courier is usually next business day delivery to all major centers within Canada. Outlying areas maybe slightly longer.
Shipping charges depend on the weight and size of the package being sent and the service chosen. Final shipping charges are calculated after your order has been packaged and weighed. We can only estimate shipping charges at the time your order is placed.
Additional charges that could apply:
COD — $6.50 Canada Post charge if you choose to pay Cash On Delivery
Overlength — $7.50 Canada Post charge if package is over 1.0 meters (39") in length. This will include many R/C kits.
Insurance — All orders will be sent insured unless otherwise requested. We will not be responsible for loss or damage of any shipment which is not insured. Insurance charges are $0.75 per hundred dollars worth of order.
Fuel and other dangerous goods such as rocket engines and spray cans can only be shipped truck freight and will be sent freight collect where shipping charges are collected on your end upon delivery. Please contact your local freight company for current rates. For reference, a case of fuel weighs 32 lbs and it must be sent "dangerous goods".
Shipping Methods for Orders to the US
For US orders, Great Hobbies provides shipment by Surface Mail, Airmail, Xpresspost, Purolator International, and Fedex and we recommend Xpresspost for the best shipping value. Shipping time should be as indicated. There may be limits on package size for US orders.
Surface Mail
Surface Mail is the cheapest method for shipping internationally, however, it can be quite slow. This would be your choice if time is not critical. Delivery time will usually range between 2 and 4 weeks.
Airmail
Airmail offers a delivery time of usually between 3 and 5 weeks. Its cost is very little different from Xpresspost, however, so we would recommend that method as it is much faster.
Great Value! — Xpresspost USA
Xpresspost gives you your best shipping value in balancing cost with time of delivery. Delivery time is usually between 4 and 7 business days and it doesn't cost much, if any more than Airmail, depending on final destination.
Fedex
Fedex would be the choice for those really in a hurry for their product, however, based on our experience, some shipping destinations can be expensive. Delivery time is usually 2 to 5 business days.
Additional charges that could apply:
Overlength — $7.50 Canada Post charge if package is over 1.0 meters (39") in length. This will include many R/C kits.
Insurance — All orders will be sent insured unless otherwise requested. We will not be responsible for loss or damage of any shipment which is not insured. Insurance charges are $1.00 per hundred dollars worth of order.
There is no provision for COD payment for orders being shipped outside of Canada.
We do not ship fuel or other dangerous goods such as rocket engines or spray cans internationally.
International Orders
We currently do not ship orders outside of Canada or the US.
