The RC4 Hybrid transponder is the most universal transponder, in that it is backwards compatible to older decoder systems still in use at some clubs.
One of the big challenges in RC racing is getting your setup right. RC transponders help you to track lap times and give better insight in your performance*. They also measure the connected voltage and ambient car temperature*. The RC4 Hybrid transponder is compatible with older RC2 & RC3 MYLAPS systems. It will provide you with a wide range of practice and race locations.
Install the transponder holder in your car at a maximum height of 15 cm (6 inches) above the ground. The temperature range of the transponder is 0 to 50 °C (32 to 122 °F). The RC4 Hybrid transponder can be used both indoors and outdoors. The transponder is shock and waterproof and will withstand rough conditions and can be used for model boats as well. Older timing systems installed on tracks are no problem for the RC4 Hybrid; it is also compatible with RC2 and RC3 systems.
Transponders are maintenance-free, but they can get dirty over time. You can clean your transponder by removing it from its holder and using a soft brush and lukewarm water.
*Please note, MyLaps RC transponders are just one component of a timing system, other hardware and software is required. Contact your local racing club to inquire into the system they use.
