This stubby pursuit design affectionately dubbed the little "Peashooter" was a new product designed by Boeing engineers. It was the first of all metal monoplane fighter designed for the Army Air Corps. The first Pea Shooter took the air on March 20, 1932. Performance was so good that a contract for 136 aircraft ensued. The P-26A was a great performer with the look of a thoroughbred, speed was built into it, yet it was very maneuverable.
