If you want to go flying by yourself, you will need a reliable and safe device for launching. The Tru-Launch Stooge was designed to handle this job for you. It features a sturdy 1/8 inch thick aluminum base plate, onto which are riveted three turned aluminum uprights. These uprights are fixture drilled to accept a steel release pin, a steel spring and a locking collar.
The stooge is designed to be mounted to a thin piece of plywood or aluminum, which is, in turn, pinned into the ground with long steel spikes made from sharpened 1/8 inch diameter music wire. A wire or strong cord is attached to the looped end of the release pin. This wire must be long enough to extend out to the pilot's position.
A 1/16" music wire loop must be affixed to the tailwheel strut on the model. The loop in the end of this wire is loaded into the stooge by pulling the release pin back. Once the model is loaded into the stooge, the engine may be safely started and the pilot can walk to the center of the circle and pick up the flying handle. He can then pick up the release cord and give it a constant pull, until the release pin lets the model go.
